The Encore Musical Theatre Company is thrilled to present the Michigan premiere of Edgar Allan Poe's Nevermore, a spine tingling and chilling new musical that uses the writings of the famous American poet to tell the story of his life and the women who crazed him.
Take a dark and mysterious journey into the life of Edgar Allan Poe. This imaginative musical uses Poe's poetry and short stories as its base and his shifting obsession with the women in his life as its catalyst. With hauntingly beautiful melodies, Nevermore breathes new life into Poe's work and explores a twisted true-life tale that is as bizarre as his classic stories of the macabre.
The role of Poe was originated at The Signatre Theatre by The Encore's own Dan Cooney (Broadway's 9 to 5, Les Misérables) who will return to the role in addition to directing this production. Joining Mr. Cooney is a cast of five extraordinary women from Michigan including Erin Donevan, Elizabeth Jaffe, Marlene Inman-Reilly, Sonja Marquis and Thalia Schramm. Music direction is by Brian Buckner, set and Lighting design by Steven Rice, and Costume design by Colleen Meyer.
Nevermore marks the launch of a new series at The Encore called Encore on the Edge. This series will feature modern musicals intended for adult audiences, focusing on edgier, darker subject matter. The series will continue with The Last Five Years in May and The Rocky Horror Show in October.
Nevermore, with Music by Matt Conner and book by Grace Barnes, begins March 10 and runs through March 20 for 8 performances only. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased by visiting The Encore's website at theencoretheatre.org or by calling the box office at (734)268-6200.
