After a record-breaking run last fall, The Ringwald/Who Wants Cake? have teamed with Olympia Entertainment to bring the hilariously bloody production of Evil Dead: The Musical back to Detroit. Beginning Friday, October 8th and playing for a four week engagement ending on Sunday, October 31st, Evil Dead: The Musical, starring Wilde award winner Mitchell Koory, will play at Detroit's City Theatre located inside Hockeytown Café at 2301 Woodward Avenue.
Based on Sam Raimi's 80's cult classic films, Evil Dead: The Musical unearths the old familiar story: boy and friends take a weekend getaway at abandoned cabin, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into Candarian Demons, boy fights until dawn to survive. As musical mayhem descends upon this sleepover in the woods, "camp" takes on a whole new meaning with uproarious numbers like "All the Men in my Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons", "What the F&%* Was That?" and "Do the Necronomicon".
With the approval of both Sam Raimi and the film's star, Bruce Campbell, the first musical version of the film was staged and enjoyed a successful workshop in Toronto and subsequent performances at the Just for Laughs Festival 2004. The Off-Broadway production opened on November 1, 2006 and ran through September 6, 2008.

Who Wants Cake? opened the doors to their resident home, The Ringwald, in May 2007 with Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy. Quickly, The Ringwald became a mainstay of Detroit's theatre community. Showtimes for Evil Dead: The Musical are Friday, Saturday nights at 8PM with Sunday matinees at 3PM. There will be two Saturday midnight shows on October 23rd and October 30th.
