WickedGreen Productions introduces Basheret, a new play by local playwright and actor Bailey Boudreau. The premiere production will be a two day only benefit August 30th and 31st, 2013 at Affirmations Community Center in Ferndale, Michigan. Proceeds will go to both Affirmations and The Kyle Holton Memorial Scholarship Fund at Wayne State University. This is a limited engagement charity event.

Affirmations is and has been an LGBT staple in the Ferndale community for years and offers numerous services and facilities for youth and adults alike, and all on a volunteer basis.

The Kyle Holton Memorial Scholarship Fund at Wayne State offers a talent based scholarship to a new student each year, as long as there are funds in the account.

Basheret is the Hebrew word for soulmate, and this new work explores what exactly a soul mate is. Do we have just one? Is it limited to romantic relationships only? Or can the group of friends we create for ourselves all be a form of a soulmate?

The play follows Benny (Bailey Boudreau), a working actor struggling with some deep inner demons on the day his show opens. He chooses to spend the day with his closest female friends, a world of characters who color the piece with their unique quirks and friendships. The phenomenal cast of women is comprised of Aubrey Fink, Meredith Deighton, Rebecca Concepcion, Zee Bricker, Tara Tomcsik and Rachel Biber (all incredible and recognizable talents from theatres all over the greater Detroit Metro area). Through a series of out of sequence, one on one scenes, Benny and his friends take us on a journey of laughter and tears and make us think about relationships in our own lives. It touches the very heart of what friendship means, and forces us to look into ourselves and face the things that may be holding us back from being the best we can be.

This is the kind of play that will indeed take you through every emotion you have, and some you may not know you had. Don't miss the chance to help out a good cause and see some really raw wonderful and new work.

Performances are Friday, August 30th and Saturday, August 31st at Affirmations Community Center, 290 W. 9 Mile Rd, Ferndale Michigan, 48220. Performance times are 7:00 PM each night. Tickets are 15$ with the option to leave additional donations if desired. Tickets are available at the door or can be reserved by e-mailing charmedboy1979@gmail.com or calling 248.298.9617.
